Thursday, February 13, 2025

The Jordan Restaurant Association (JRA) recently hosted a delegation of French journalists as part of familiarization trips organized by the Jordan Tourism Board to promote tourism in Jordan. The delegation was welcomed by Mr. Issam Fakhreddin, Chairman of the Board, and Mrs. Eliana Ja'neini, Director General of the JRA.

Mr. Fakhreddin provided a comprehensive overview of the investment landscape in the tourism restaurant sector, highlighting the wide variety of restaurant types and categories spread across the Kingdom, in addition to the diversity and authenticity of Jordanian cuisine. He stressed the pivotal role this diversity plays in enhancing food tourism and its success in Jordan.

During the meeting, Fakhreddin pointed out the economic importance of the tourism restaurant sector, which includes about 1,200 tourist restaurants under the umbrella of the association, and provides job opportunities for nearly 40% of the total workforce in the tourism sector. He also explained that the majority of workers in the sector are graduates of schools, vocational training institutes, and Jordanian universities specializing in tourism, hospitality, and hotel management, which contributes to raising the level of services provided and enhancing Jordan's position as a leading destination in food tourism.

Following the meeting, Mr. Fakhreddin accompanied the delegation on a visit to the Royal Academy of Culinary Arts, where they were received by its Director General, Mr. Jack Russell. During the tour, the delegation learned about the academy's departments, the latest technologies used in the field of culinary arts and hospitality, as well as the academic and training programs offered by the academy, such as the Bachelor's degree in Food and Beverage Management, the Academic Diploma, and the Professional Diploma in Culinary Arts.

This visit comes within the framework of the efforts of the Jordan Restaurant Association to introduce global markets to Jordan's rich tourism potentials, its prominent role in enhancing the food tourism experience, and attracting more international visitors to the Kingdom.
