Fakhreddin Participates in Investment Council Meeting Chaired by Prime Minister

Wednesday, January 22, 2025

During the Investment Council meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Jaafar Hassan, the head of the Jordan Restaurant Association, Issam Fakhreddin, highlighted the key challenges facing restaurant owners and the tourism sector in general.

Fakhreddin pointed out that high operating costs, particularly energy and electricity prices, pose a major obstacle to the continued operation of businesses in the sector, which weakens the ability of restaurants and tourist establishments to achieve sustainability and growth.

He also drew attention to the impact of regional conditions, including the tourism situation in the wake of the Gaza war, which has negatively affected tourism activity in the Kingdom.

He added that unlicensed businesses, such as those run from homes, are threatening the work of the sector and affecting its competitiveness in the market, stressing the need to regulate this phenomenon.

He stressed the importance of reviewing the laws, regulations, and customs procedures that constitute a burden on restaurant owners, calling for greater cooperation between the government and the private sector to overcome obstacles and promote an attractive investment environment.
