Jordan Restaurant Association (JRA), represented by Ms. Eliana Ja’anineh, General Manager, and members of its dedicated team, participated in a specialized awareness workshop focused on Sustainable Tourism. The event, held this past Sunday, was organized by the Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) in collaboration with the Dutch organization CBI, and saw broad participation from various entities within the tourism sector.
The JTRA affirmed that this workshop represents a crucial step towards enhancing awareness of sustainability and elevating service standards within the Jordanian restaurant sector to meet international criteria.
Mr. Wa’el Al-Rousan, Deputy Director General of the JTB, highlighted that sustainability has become a core element for achieving balance across the environmental, social, and economic dimensions of tourism.
In her intervention during the discussion panel, Ms. Ja’anineh stressed that implementing sustainable practices in restaurants does more than just boost Jordan's competitiveness as a tourist destination. It also significantly contributes to rationalizing water and energy consumption, reducing food waste, and supporting local communities by relying on fresh produce from Jordanian farmers, while offering healthy and responsible food choices to tourists.
The Association praised the Jordan Tourism Board’s efforts in organizing this crucial event, reiterating its commitment to applying sustainability standards across the hospitality sector to ensure Jordan remains a model for responsible and sustainable tourism.
