Ms. Eliana Jaounieh, General Manager of the Jordan Restaurant Association (JRA), met with the Women with Disabilities Committee of the Higher Council for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities, led by Ms. Rawan Barakat. The meeting focused on exploring avenues of collaboration aimed at enhancing the integration of women with disabilities into the tourism restaurant sector.
The discussion centered on developing practical mechanisms to achieve this integration. An agreement was reached to organize specialized awareness training for JRA member restaurants. These training sessions will cover effective methods for integrating persons with disabilities and educate tourism restaurant staff about the Law on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, with the goal of fostering a more inclusive and understanding work environment.
As a next step, these training programs will be part of a joint media campaign between the Jordan Restaurant Association, the Women with Disabilities Committee, and the Higher Council for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities. This campaign will highlight inspiring success stories of persons with disabilities currently working in tourism restaurants, aiming to present positive role models and encourage more restaurants to adopt similar initiatives.
Ms. Eliana Jaounieh affirmed the Jordan Restaurant Association's commitment to supporting initiatives that promote social responsibility and provide equitable employment opportunities within the sector. She emphasized that collaboration with relevant bodies involved in integrating persons with disabilities into the labor market is a priority for the JRA's activities, noting ongoing cooperation with the Higher Council for the Affairs of Persons with Disabilities, the Military Retirees Corporation, and the Sana' Association.
