JRA partners with occupational safety Institute to elevate safety standards in tourism restaurants

Wednesday, October 15, 2025

In a move aimed at significantly enhancing occupational safety and health (OSH) standards across the tourism restaurant sector, the Jordan Restaurant Association (JRA) has initiated a strategic collaboration with the Occupational Safety and Health Institute (OSHI).

The JRA, represented by its Human Resources and Training Manager, Ms. Niveen Qaqish, visited OSHI to discuss future cooperation. Mr. Majdi Al-Qaraleh, representing OSHI, emphasized the importance of this visit in solidifying joint efforts and affirmed the Institute’s full readiness to dedicate its expertise and resources to support the JRA in creating a safe and healthy working environment.

The discussions focused on developing a strategic partnership to raise the competency of workers in the tourism restaurant sector. The goal is to equip staff with the necessary skills to implement best practices in accordance with the highest OSH standards.

Ms. Qaqish clarified that the JRA places the safety of both employees and customers at the top of its priorities. She noted that through this partnership with the leading Institute, the JRA looks forward to firmly establishing a culture of safety within this vital sector.

An initial action plan was agreed upon, including specialized training courses for staff from JRA member restaurants. These courses will focus on certifying participants as "OSH Technicians and Specialists." These trained individuals are expected to directly supervise the implementation of safety standards within their respective establishments, positively impacting the safety of both employees and patrons.
