Workshop Boosts Compliance with Labor and Safety Laws in Restaurant Sector
In a collaborative effort with the Ministry of Labor, represented by the Directorate of Occupational Safety and Health Inspection, the Jordan Restaurant Association (JRA) organized a specialized dialogue workshop titled "The Legal Framework for Labor and Safety in the Restaurant Sector: Compliance, Protection, and Sustainability." This workshop, part of the Ministry's "Promising Labor Market" campaign, aimed to enhance communication and interaction with the private sector. The primary goal was to raise awareness about the importance of adhering to labor law and occupational safety instructions within the sector.
The workshop presented the latest updates to the Jordanian Labor Law, focusing on aspects such as contracts, leaves, the concept of flexible work, and provisions for arbitrary dismissal. It also highlighted the significance of the Occupational Safety and Health Law and its requirements to ensure a safe and compliant working environment in restaurants. Interactive sessions discussed legal challenges faced by restaurant owners, offering practical methods to avoid violations and inspection reports. Best practices in human resource management and legal compliance were also reviewed, with participation from decision-makers and HR managers.
The workshop saw active attendance from restaurant owners, restaurant managers, and HR managers and officials, all contributing to the overarching goal of elevating legal awareness in the sector and achieving a safe and sustainable working environment for all employees.
